Overview

On this journey you will experience a spectacular landscape, starting with Þingvellir our National park where the plate tectonic activity is visible, as well as walking through Almannagjá where the ground has subsided about 70m. From Þingvellir we will see the famous Gullfoss(Golden waterfall) one of the most powerful waterfall in Europe and perhaps see a rainbow. From there we head to Geysir area and fell the power beneath our feed. On our way back we stop at Friðheimar where they grow tomatoes under artificial light all year around. At last we relax at the Secret Lagon be for heading back.

    Thingvellir National Park 1 hour · Admission included

    Here you do not only get to stand on the ground where the oldest legislative parliament was established in the world at 930 because this is also the best place in the world to study divergent plate boundry. The landscape is breathtaking and the history is no less interesting.

    Geysir 1 hour

    The famous Geysir that all hot springs in the world are named after does not spout anymore. It did in the year 2000 due to earthquakes and then again 2016. The whole area is boiling and steaming from geothermal activity so make sure you follow the restricting walking trails. How ever Strokkur is the new Geysir and it spouts every 4-10 min and is quite impressive.

    Gullfoss Falls 1 hour · Admission included

    Gullfoss (Golden waterfall) is a 32m two cascade waterfall that falls in to the river Hvítá. The waterfall is one of the most famous waterfall in Iceland probably for the fact it was almost sold to an English man back in the time, but a young woman fought hard to keep it. You get to walk very close to the fall and perhaps see a rainbow decorating it.

    Fridheimar 1 hour

    Friðheimar is a family business that focus on growing tomatoes and horses. They grow tomatoes under artificial light all year around despite the long dark winters. During the summer they have a horse shows that provides you a insight of the horse breed from the Settlement. Here is ideal to try their famous tomato soup.

    Kerid Crater 30 minutes

    The crater Kerið was formed about 6,500 years ago and lies at the northern end of a row of craters known as Tjarnarhólar. It is oval, about 270 m long, 170 m wide and 55 m deep: the depth of the water at the bottom varies between 7 and 14 m. According to an old tradition, a rise in the water level here is accompanied by a corresponding fall in the pond on Búrfell in Grímsnes and vice versa.
